A customer brought in an old Dell compact PC which was running noisy when performing heavy tasks. We recommended new thermal paste for the CPU and a general clean up inside of dust etc.
We removed the CPU fan which revealed that the Heatsink was full of dust. We removed that and cleaned it up and then revealed that the old thermal paste was pretty much non existent on top of the CPU.
We cleaned the fan as well and applied new thermal paste.
We also supplied a new power supply unit as it also showed signs of age and noise.
The customer reported that the PC was working well after with the noise issue abated.
