Dell Laptop hardware test and BIOS update

This Dell Laptop had been occasionally bluescreening even though it had already been factory reset. We recommended a hardware test to see if anything flagged up that may be causing the issue. We ran the onboard Dell diagnostics which often flags up hard drive issues we find. This came back all clear so we installed Passmarks full hardware test. This tests the RAM, CPU, Hard drive, Sound and Graphics but still we found no issues.

Next we checked the Event Viewer in Windows 10 for any unusual logs of errors. We noticed after every NTFS healthy log was an error saying VolMgr and a critical dump issue. On checking Google for the message we found some people had mentioned updating the BIOS of the laptop. Heading over to Dell.co.uk and entering the service tag of the laptop we found the BIOS was quite out of date and needed the latest version. This was installed along with some updates to various rivers as well.

We await to hear from the customer if the problem was resolved and have not charged them for the service until we know.
