On the 14th January 2020 Microsoft will no longer be supporting Windows 7. This means that you will not receive any further updates, security fixes etc for Windows 7 after that time. If you are a business it is crucial that you upgrade to Windows 10 as you will be at risk of a GDPR violation. If an issue happened where you lost customers data because of a Windows 7 vulnerability you would be liable for it and could face heavy fines.

Windows 7 can still be upgraded to Windows 10 for free meaning that you do not have to pay for a license. You can literally download the Windows 10 software and choose upgrade. Choose to keep all files and settings and it should upgrade you to Windows 10 with everything as it was. If you prefer the feel of Windows 7, especially the Start Menu you can download Classic Shell which makes it look very similar and gives you all the features back on the Start Menu.

If you want to really boost the speed of your system we recommend cloning your hard drive to a super fast SSD (Solid State Drive) and then running the Windows 10 upgrade after.
