Dell 27 All in one SSD Replacement

A good spec Dell 27 All in One PC was slow and kept crashing. It wouldn’t boot to Windows at some points but we managed to get in and check the Windows logs. Every second a log registered that a hard drive block error was present. There were 2 drives present – an M2 SSD chip and an older Sata 1TB drive that had all of the data on it. We couldn’t open the Disk Management tool which would have helped us identify the failing drive as the fault seemed to lock it. The only way to identify it was to take each drive out and connect to a convertor and another PC. Using an m2 convertor we established that the SSD was the issue.

We had to take two screws from each side of the back panel and removed it. Then a silver metal casing with around 6 screws was removed to reveal the SSD.

We supplied and fitted a new Crucial m2 SSD and installed Windows. We then created the user accounts and diverted the user profiles to the older Sata 1TB drive.

After installing drivers, updates and software the PC was fully up and running and working back at the fast speed it used to run at.
